ITINERARY
Morning departure from the hotel by GT bus to reach Pompei. Here you will be taken on a guided tour to discover what remains of the ancient splendour of the Roman Empire. The city was covered in ashes and lapilli from the eruption of the Mount Vesuvius in 79 Ad and forgotten for centuries. It was rediscovered at the end of the 16th century but excavations only began in 1748 under the King of Naples, Charles III of Bourbon, gradually showing the city and its exceptional heritage of architecture, sculptures, paintings and mosaics. Excavations are not yet finished with archaeologists intent to rediscover the treasures of the past. After the visit you will have free time before being escorted back to the Casale for lunchtime.
